Erotikinks ("we", "us") runs erotikinks.com, a site of erotic fiction by Tori Hamlin for adults only. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with and what your rights are. We keep it short and in plain language.

The short version

We collect only what we need to run your account, sell you ebooks and run memberships.
We use analytics only if you say yes in the cookie banner.
We don't show ads, we don't sell your data and we don't share it for advertising.

1. Who we are and how to reach us

Erotikinks is a sole proprietorship based in Indiana, USA. It is responsible for your personal data (the "controller" under EU and UK law). For any privacy question or request, email hamlin@erotikinks.com.

2. Adults only

This site is for people 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live, if that's higher). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

3. What we collect

Account details
Examples: Name or display name, email address, password (stored by Wix, never visible to us), profile photo if you add one. If you sign in with Google, we get the name and email Google shares.
Where it comes from: You

Orders and memberships
Examples: What you bought, when, the price, your billing country and email, your membership status and renewal date
Where it comes from: You, Wix, Stripe, PayPal

Payment details
Examples: Card details are entered with Stripe and stay with Stripe. If you pay with PayPal, you log in to PayPal and your details stay with PayPal. We see only limited information, such as your name, email, the payment method or card brand and the last 4 digits.

Technical data
Examples: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, approximate location from your IP address. Some is needed to run the site securely; the rest (analytics) is collected only with your consent.

Newsletter data
Email address, signup and subscription records, delivery events such as bounces or unsubscribes, and email opens and link clicks when tracking is enabled.

We don't ask for sensitive data. Please don't put real-life personal details about yourself or anyone else in public posts.

Release news by email, only if you sign up, and newsletter delivery and engagement measurement
Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR): Your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Newsletter emails may use a small tracking image to record opens and tracked links to record clicks. This helps us understand delivery and which updates readers use. Email tracking is separate from website analytics and the cookie banner. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link; you can also contact hamlin@erotikinks.com about your newsletter data.

We don't use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions that affect you.

5. Who we share it with

Only with the services that run the site for us, and only what they need:

Wix.com hosts the site and provides accounts, the store, memberships, the forum, comments, chat, transactional emails, newsletter signup records and the essential cookies.
EmailOctopus and its sub-processors store newsletter subscribers and send release news and member updates on our behalf. Newsletter records include your email address, subscription status, delivery events and, when enabled, email opens and link clicks.
Zapier connects our Wix newsletter form to EmailOctopus. It processes signup and workflow data, which may include your submitted email address and related submission or contact details. We do not automatically add store customers or members to the newsletter.
bunny.net delivers selected download files. When you open one of these links, it receives the request details needed to deliver the file, such as your IP address and the file requested.
Stripe processes card payments for store purchases. It is also the only processor for Black Room memberships, which show on your statement as "Eroink books".
PayPal processes store purchases when you choose to pay with PayPal.
Cloudflare protects the site from bots and attacks. It sees your IP address and sets one short-lived security cookie.
Google Analytics (GA4) gives us site statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect our rights, or if the site is ever transferred to a new owner (who would have to follow this policy).

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

6. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where EU or UK data leaves the EU or UK, they rely on approved safeguards, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

How long: Until you delete your account or ask us to delete it

Orders, payments and tax records
How long: 7 years, for tax and accounting

Membership records
How long: For the life of the membership, then with the order records

Forum posts and comments
How long: Until you or we delete them, or until account deletion (we may keep a non-identifying copy if others replied)

Emails with us
How long: Up to 2 years after the conversation ends

Analytics (if you consented)
How long: Up to 14 months after your last visit

Cookie consent record
How long: Up to 12 months, then we ask again

8. Your rights

Everyone. You can ask us to:

show you the data we hold about you
correct it
delete it

You can close your account at any time. Email hamlin@erotikinks.com. We'll answer within one month, and may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your account.

EU and UK visitors (GDPR / UK GDPR). You also have the rights to:

restrict or object to our use of your data
data portability (a copy in a common format)
withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything done before)
complain to your local data protection authority, e.g. the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or the authority in your EU country. We'd appreciate the chance to fix things first.

US state privacy laws (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and others). You have the right to:

know what personal data we collect, use and disclose
access it
correct it
delete it
opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" and of targeted advertising

We don't sell or share personal data and we don't do targeted advertising. You can still record your choice with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the site footer. We won't treat you differently for using your rights. If we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. You can also use an authorized agent, and we may ask them for proof that you authorized them.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in, hold your cart and keep the site secure. We use analytics cookies only if you accept them. Details and how to change your choice are in our Cookie Policy.

10. Security

Logins, payments and accounts run on Wix, Stripe and PayPal, which use encryption and industry-standard security. No system is perfect, so please use a strong password and keep it to yourself.

11. Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll also show a notice on the site or email members.
