Throughout the morning, Evan did odd jobs. While he couldn't make out what the headphones were telling him, he knew what he was doing was right. He scrubbed the baseboards in the basement, a painstaking task with a toothbrush. He polished the weird machines and cleared cobwebs from the corners.
